Kids Chore Chart

Looking for a way to have the kids help out around the house? This printable kids chore chart will give them the guidance and structure that they need.

Not only do you get a blank one to fill in some random chores and ideas but we’ve even written in some of our own daily chores that are done at our house to give you some ideas. The more structure that you can give the kids during this time, the better. They might resist the thought at first but having them help out more with the needs of the home will be a huge blessing!

Once all the chores are completed, they can have fun in the garden

Why do kids need a chore chart?

Think of it as a way to just help hold them accountable. Adults are the same way, right? If you write it down, it’s much more likely to happen and get done.

This is the same concept for the kids except their list will be full of chores that they can easily do at home.

Kids Chore Charts

Let’s face it. The kids probably are not going to like having a chore chart. They’ll fight it at first, say that they do enough cleaning and helping out around the house. Let them have that moment and just calmly tell them that these chore charts are to help out more.

Once they see that they can easily tackle the chores on the list without feeling overwhelmed, they’ll be more likely to dive in, help out, and get them done.

What are some simple chores for kids?

Make certain that the chores that you’re having them do aren’t too hard or their going to lose interest. Some simple chores could be:

  • Sweeping
  • Cleaning out the litter box
  • Dusting
  • Taking out the trash
  • Putting away clean dishes
  • Folding the laundry
  • Washing the mirrors
  • Cleaning their rooms

Just simple chores like that will be a huge help in the overall work that needs to be done at home.

Make certain to print out the printable below to get started!

Make certain to add in the chores that are age-appropriate for your child as well so that you don’t have to worry about safety or the use of chemical cleaners, etc.

Other chores for kids to consider

Once they get the hang of their chores, you can always alter your chore chart a bit and add in a few different things.

Sorting recycling can be a great way that they can continue to help around the house.

Organizing the junk drawers is also a task that they can do!

The list can go on and on! Also, give your kids a chance to add a chore or two to their list as well that they want to do. You never know, you might have a kiddo that actually really does like cleaning!

What other kid chores will you be adding to the list?
