This week on What Did You Watch the lovely Ashleigh who writes over at Being Ashleigh has shared her top five programmes, some of these I remember watching with my eldest!
I love reading about things that have influenced people’s lives, and their childhood memories
1. Hey Arnold
I think Hey Arnold is what started off my obsession with New York (Brooklyn to be exact!). I used to rush home from school to catch the latest episode! I always wondered why as a young child, that Helga was always SO mean to Arnold but then I soon realised that that’s what you do when you secretly have a crush on someone!
2. Bernard’s Watch
Who wouldn’t want a magic gold stop watch that could pause time and continue it when ever you wanted. I’ve always said to this day that I would definitely stop time, head to Topshop and get a month’s worth of outfits and then resume time again!
3. Come Outside
I used to LOVE singing along to the theme tune (and am right now… *guilty*). Nothing excited me more than watching the colourful spotty airplane coming into land or taking off and Pippin and Auntie Mabel coming on screen for another adventurous episode. Looking back at it now as a young child, you always learnt something new when watching Come Outside. I remember watching a particular episode in which Auntie Mabel and Pippin visit a wool factory and you learn how wool is made. Interesting!
4. Rosie & Jim
Who else wished they lived on a canal boat when growing up? I also really wanted my own Rosie and Jim soft toys to try and talk to at night to come alive haha!
5. Tots TV
Another 90’s classic…. Tom, Tiny and Tilly were the best of friends and I always craved a friendship circle like theirs. I also loved how you always learnt a bit of French as Tilly was French!
Thanks Ashleigh, it is lovely to look back on all of these, Xene definitely had a backpack with Tots TV and I now have the theme tune in my head.
“I’m a tot, je suis une tot, Tilly Tom and Tiny….”
Do you remember any of these, were they part of your childhood viewing ?
