What Did You Watch – A Cornish Mum

So, after a little break, we are back with another fabulous blogger to let you know all about her viewing pleasure whilst growing up, and maybe help her solve a burning question!

Introducing Stephanie(Stevie) who blogs at A Cornish Mum.

Growing up, I mostly enjoyed watching films that my two older siblings hated. Admittedly that was just to wind them up, oh sibling love is a beautiful thing, but when it came to television programmes we were on the same page.

So here are my five favourite television programmes growing up.

 Byker Grove.

I may have cried when PJ was blinded, biut then in my defence I was nine when it happened in 1992. It was kind of my first introduction to soaps and I couldn’t get enough.

I still love Ant and Dec now, they crack me up.

Sabrina The Teenage Witch

A teenager who can use magic to get what she wants, I think you can see the appeal here. I wanted to be Sabrina, even if her magic always seemed to go wrong.

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air

I’ve always had a bit of a crush on Will Smith, even when he wore the horrendous early 90’s style clothes in the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air!

I loved Carlton as well as a character, especially when he danced. This was one of those programmes that made me feel a bit more grown up watching it, as it talked about more adult things like dating.

I’ve introduced my boys to it and they love it as well. I’ll still happily watch it now and laugh.

Round The Twist

‘Have you ever…ever felt like this ? Strange things happening…are you going round the twist ?’, I still sometimes have this theme tune stuck in my head.

It was Australian, about a dad and his three children who lived in a lighthouse, along with ghosts. The story lines were always completely unbelievable and odd, but hilarious to my younger self.

?????

This last one is a tricky one, as I have no idea what the programme is called! I’m hoping you can all help me to be honest.

The programme had a girl in it, with an imaginary friend called Annabella Kajinski (I named one of my hamsters this growing up – yes my hamster had a surname.), she had a dog named Rags and that is all I can remember.

This has bugged me for years trying to remember the name of the programme, googling doesn’t work and nor does searching on you tube!

In fact when I mentioned calling my hamster Annabella Kajinski, I recently had a comment from someone asking if I please knew what the programme was called, as it had been bugging them for years.

So can anyone put us out of our misery and tell us the programme name ?!

Thankyou so much to Stevie for telling us about her TV viewing and for now making all of us wish we knew what the programme was called, I asked my husband yesterday and he knew what we were talking about, but didn’t have a clue what it was called.

If you would like to put Stevie out of her misery, you can find her on facebook, twitter, instagram, pinterest and youtube.

    • really dont know how I came across this forum!

The programme that you are trying to remember was call “Just Us” with Kay Mellor. It was set in Leeds very close to where we live in Headingley.

The imaginary friend to Hope was called Annabella Kajinski. She also had s dog called Rags.

The series ran for 3 seasons from 1992 – 1994.
Brings back a lot of good memories.

      Hope this helps.

  1. Ah how could I forget Byker Grove, bloody hell! I can hear the theme song in my head lol. I can’t deal with Ant & Dec now but back then lol. Sabrina was a favourite too. I just did a post like this on Monday, it’s so nice to relive everything.

  2. I can’t help with the mystery show, although the name does ring a bell! I used to watch all of these though, as soon as I read Round The Twist I started singing the theme song before I even read it written underneath, I loved that show SO much! I still find myself randomly singing it from time to time! xx
