I didn’t manage to link up last week, so this week, two for the price of one!
Day 36 Eowyns New Toy
When I first started blogging, nearly six years ago, it was always Neva that would get sent the girlie toys for review, but now that Eowyn is aged 8, she pretty much has the pick of all the toy reviews for girls (although i’m sure Neva and Xene have a little play when we’re not looking) her latest is a Fairy Flowerpot.
Day 37 A surprise delivery!
Well, not really a surprise I knew Cake Angels were sending me a ‘hamper’ for decorating for Valentines Day, I thought it would be a nice thing to do with the children during half term, however I should know by now, that a hamper actually means about four small products, not even adding up to £15…
Day 38 Car Trouble Causes Preschool miss
Our big car finally went into the garage yesterday, but having nine people to transport with a five seater car is a logistical nightmare! I ended up collecting Viggo 30 minutes earlier from preschool yesterday, so I could get him and Neva home, which just gave me enough time to get to school for the others! Today Viggo and Xene were supposed to be at preschool, but I had no way of physically collecting them, so they both had a day at home, which Viggo spent pulling faces at me!
Day 39 – A phonecall at Lunchtime!
After having the week off last week, Tyrus has not settled any better in school, in fact it’s got worse, this morning I left him sobbing, which is the worst feeling ever! At lunchtime I received a phonecall from the headmistress to say he has been unsettled all morning, he is now refusing to go into the hall and won’t eat any lunch. I had a long conversation with her and we decided that on this one occasion I would come and collect him, as he is pretty much non verbal at school, and never bothers about pain, I was unsure if he still had something wrong, thankfully the doctors had a cancelation so I was able to have him checked out from top to bottom, and surprise surprise he was given the all clear! So i’m guessing it was just a protest about being at school, the only photo I could take was of his beloved cheese balls, if he won’t eat anything else, I know he can never refuse these (plus he spends most of his time naked at home due to clothing sensory issues, and no-one wants to see that!)Thank goodness it’s nearly the holidays, but on a plus we got the car back…
Day 40 Happy Thoughts, Happy Thoughts…
The chickens are quite calming which is quite good after the day i’ve had! Driving to pick up the children in our ‘fixed’ car to find as i’m driving along the dual carriageway I lose all power in the car, I manage to restart it and get over the junction, to then find I had brakes when I first push the pedal, but then it goes rock hard and I can’t stop! It was not an enjoyable journey home from school, I was straight on the phone to the garage, who assured me it was a separate issue from the one they fixed (although it is exactly what had happened before) luckily Asa’s parents were visiting for the afternoon, so his dad followed him to the garage and brought him back.
Day 41 Last Day of School and College.
I think is actually looking forward to having them all home for the holidays, she received an offer for the second university, so she has decided that she is going to choose one of those and not worry about the interview at Liverpool, i’m not sure which she will choose at the moment.
Day 42 First day of the holidays
With no sign of a car being fixed anytime soon, the half term is looking very home based, unless its a trip out for five or less! The weather at least isn’t too cold, so they can get outside, even if Kaide does like like he is being made to play mums and dads!
Day 43 The weather in Norfolk is very mild
It’s not very often I take photos of flowers, but I couldn’t believe that this Hebe still has flowers on it, although I do need to chop back the old stems, that will be a job for when they are all back at school!
Day 44 Eowyn watering the plants
Two jobs in one, watering the plants and getting photos for the watering can review, that is a toy and a garden tool! Still no sign of the car and they are all getting a little bit fed up with each other!
Day 45 Happy Valentines Day
We don’t really do much for Valentines Day, we don’t ever have people queuing up to look after the children, so we tend to just have a nice meal once the children are in bed (or playing on games consoles if it’s the older teens!) Although Asa did buy me a Chocolate Orange, which is my favourite chocolate.
Day 46 Baking Day
We finally got round to doing some baking, Neva mixed the ingredients, I baked the cakes and Neva and Xene decorated, as they are far more artistic than I am, then everyone else helped to eat the cake!
Day 47 Rehearsals are in full swing
Xene is currently rehearsing for two shows, Honk and You Can’t Stop The Beat, one taking place at Easter and the other in the May half term, which means she is currently out three evenings per week, which means mum taxi! (we still have no car!)
Day 48 Some benefits to not having a car!
As we have not been able to get out of the house, Eowyn has spent a good chunk of the week perfecting her bike riding skills, so I guess every cloud has a silver lining! Although there is no sign of it being returned, which could make the school runs interesting on Monday…
Day 49 The Vegetable Patch is nearly clear!
Throughout this week Asa with the help of some willing volunteers (at times, and not so willing at others!) he has managed to get rid of nearly every branch, piece of wood and general junk that has been residing in the veg patch for the past few years, they have even managed to dismantle two old lawnmowers! Not long until I can order the greenhouse..
And there we have it! Two weeks without a vehicle is pretty horrendous when you have seven children, but we’ve got through it and no-one has been damaged in the process.
Who knows what next week will bring, one thing is definite I have a Super Kingsize Bed arriving, so I am a little bit excited.
Hope you’ve all had a great week xxx
It can’t have been easy without a car, but it sounds like you’ve coped very we’ll! Sorry to hear about the difficult day at school, I bet half-term was very welcome. The two shows sound exciting! My daughter did panto, that was much more intensive, with just three weeks rehearsal, six days a week!
Oh my goodness no car and all the school runs etc!! I am feeling stressed for you! #prohect365
Hope Tyrus has a better time when he goes back. I love your children’s names 🙂 and hope you all had a lovely week off! We go back tomorrow too.
I remember not having a car – out of choice – for a while when I was a stay at home and actually loved it, although we didn’t have school commitments etc then. I can’t imagine not being without now. Car garages drive me potty! The cake looks beautifully decorated – bet it tasted good too!
Crikey I’d be screwed without a car given we live in the middle of nowhere and are 7 miles from anywhere decent and an hour+ walk (it’s a huge hill) from the nearest shop 2.5 miles away. Hope the school hatred for Tyrus improves after half term.
What a nightmare about the car, hope it’s sorted soon for you. The cake looks very pretty. Great news re Uni and I hope the shows go well #365
sorry to hear about the car, hope its all sorted now, it was a logistical nightmare for us when our people carrier was off the road, ferrying 5 kids around, i feel your pain
Yes I was disappointed in my “hamper” as well.
Gosh that was scary with the car, things could have been much worse.
They did a great job on the cake, looks great.
