And here we are on day 7, with the seventh letter of the alphabet G for Goals !
Obviously everyone has goals throughout their lives, some will be achieved easily, others it will take a bit of time.
I guess my first goal, was to have children and get married ! (very cliche) but I can safely say I have got this one under my belt!
I always wanted a career that I was happy with, as I have seen so many of my relatives go to work every day then come home and moan how dreadfully they’ve been treated or how much work they have, but they can’t stand the place, so it’s always been important to me that I have a job I enjoy. If I look back on all the jobs i’ve had (apart from one as a waitress at 16, that I quit after three weeks as the chef was a complete pig) I have enjoyed them all. Last year I made the very difficult decision to leave my job as a breastfeeding practitioner, I absolutely adored my job, but with a new company taking over, the job changed and with more demands on my time, as Asa’s work schedule got heavier, it was the right time to work from home, and although I still miss the amazing team I worked with, I know from speaking with a couple that my job would have changed beyond recognition, and they have now moved offices to somewhere further away from home. I love the flexibility of working from home, although it does seem that none of us ever switch off! It’s certainly not a 37.5 hrs per week job, but it has brought so many great experiences and I am now available for every, dentist, doctor, parents evening appointment (which there are a lot of with seven children!)
Pets! When we moved to our house ten years ago, I had a dream of chickens, and three years later we got our first six, although they do become quite addictive, at one point we had 44! Now we just have 20, a mix of boys and girls (the joys of living in the countryside means they can crow as much as they like!)
Back in July 1999 I attended a local gala and one of the highlights was a Newfoundland Rescue Display Team, from that moment on, I have always dreamed of owning a Newfoundland, and just last week, that dream was turned into a reality, after much pestering from myself and the children, Asa finally said yes! After scouring all the breeders in the country, we found our perfect little lady! Welcome to the family Merrie x
She is currently residing in Cornwall and she will be coming to live with us on 10th November, when she is 9 weeks, to say everyone is a little bit excited is an understatement, so the next five weeks will be spent reading everything there is to know and getting the house ready for a puppy!
Goals for the future:
As a mum, many of your goals seem to involve your children, so I would like them all to grow up and find love, pursue a career they are going to enjoy and live happily ever after.
For me (and Asa) I would like to think that one day we will be able to go away, just the two of us on holiday and maybe climb a mountain or two, or even go out for a meal in peace, surely that is achievable!!
What goals do you have ?
Omg how cute is Merrie ❤❤ so so sweet and will bring so much love to your family. X

Oo Merrie is beautiful. I absolutely agree that you should enjoy your work so think you definitely made the right choice. #blogtober17
I am so jealous of you I have always wanted a Newfloundland, they are the most gorgeous dogs ever, unfortunately my husband says no, although we currently own an Alaskan Malamute and a German Shepherd x
They are both lovely dogs too, I’ve never wanted a small dog!
I’m curious as to what job you do now as I haven’t followed your blog for that long! I love your new pup – I don’t work the hours that would be fair to a dog but do love them!
My two blogs make up a good chunk of my income and I am also a partner in a Leisure & Tourism Consultancy business with my husband.
A peaceful meal…I think you’re expectations are too high, haha x
Your doggie is adorable, funnily enough one of my goals is to own a doggy! #blogtober2017
Aww! Your little puppy is adorable…I bet you can’t wait for her to be home with you x
Sounds like you’ve achieved a lot in your life, well done! My big goal is to find a job I’m happy in – I endured my job pre-kids but was happy to leave it to be a stay at home mum! I know that I want more than that long term though, but just don’t know what job is best for me. Oh well, my youngest is only 1.5 so I’ve got time to work it out!
That dog is super adorable!!
How cute is Merrie. I have days when I really miss having a dog but at the minute the kids keep me busy enough without having a new puppy to look after too.
Hope she settles in when she arrives.
Aww gorgeous Merrie, loved reading about your achievements and goals x
How exciting about your puppy, she looks so cute! I’m sure you will be able to achieve your other goals, they seem realistic (although you may have to wait a few years for all your children to grow up and fly the nest for your travel plans!) #blogtober
I 100% agree that it is so important to be happy with your job/at work; we spend such a long time at work! #blogtober17
