Top Five Places to visit in Bali for Families.

Lately I have been thinking about the places I would like to visit, in the future with the children, they are all growing up so fast and I know it won’t be long until the older ones no longer want to have a family holiday altogether and would probably prefer a week away with their friends, so before that happens I would love to visit Bali, armed with trusty google, I have been researching Bali villa rentals and there are some amazing places to stay, next on my list was to make sure there was enough to keep every one of the children occupied, and there certainly is, so here are my Top 5 places to visit in Bali for Families.

1. Waterbom Bali

All of the children adore the water and love nothing better than riding on a water slide, whether that be at Butlins or the local leisure centre, so discovering that Bali has Waterbom Bali which comprises of numerous choices of slides that will keep the entire family occupied for a whole day, including easy-going pools with mini slides to large scale adrenaline-pumping rides that start from significant heights. The park covers 3.8Ha of tropical gardens and pools, as well as a complete host of dining and leisure facilities. You can ride The ‘Smashdown 2.0’  where you start at a height of 25.9m, enter a capsule with a trapdoor at your feet, which then releases you down an adrenaline-pumping chute of a ride. If you dare, opt for the more thrilling ‘Climax’ that ups the ante, dropping you down with 2.5 G‐force of speed, and whirls you through a near-vertical dip before looping back around. If you are more for the gentle rides why not take a tube for yourself or a double tube for couples and follow the steady stream of the ‘Lazy River’. This is Waterbom Bali’s ultimate feature for a slow-paced relaxation ride through cascading waterfalls and lush foliage, and where you can forget the sense of time. 2. Bali Safari and Marine Park

You will already know how much my children adore animals, so obviously we had to feature some kind of zoo or safari! It is one of the largest animal theme parks on the island, it opened its doors in 2007, it is home to over 60 species that roam free in large enclosures that mimic their natural habitat. The animals come from three different areas, India, Africa and Indonesia. So you can expect to see a vast array of impressive animals, the highlight being the Indian White Tigers. Guests jump aboard safari buses to explore the 40 hectares of land. Once you have marvelled at the animals, why not spend some time at the water park attached.

3. Dream Museum Zone

Dream Museum Zone is a fun and interactive art gallery featuring a large collection of three-dimensional, life-size murals for visitors to pose and play with. The gallery features a rich array of masterfully painted artworks that each serves as interactive backdrops for illusory three-dimensional photography. There are an impressive total of 120 unique artworks in 14 different categories spread over three levels, which provide a full-day of discovery and creativity.  The illusionary effects using only paint and well positioned lighting in various sizes are absolutely stunning. Stepping inside the galleries,  you will easily find yourselves posing in the wackiest poses imaginable, alone or together, to capture that perfect shot. Some animal-themed paintings are quite amusing, as you hose down a zebra to wash away its stripes, milk a cow, or ‘narrowly escape’ a menacing shark attack. A perfect way to spend a day, and a great way to have fun with the family. If you are looking to all get in the phots together, a tripod is a great idea. There are marks on the floor that indicate the best spot to place your tripod, or from where to take the picture for the best angle.  A refreshment corner serves bubble teas and snacks, and a gift shop is onsite where you can also have your zany shots printed on T-shirts, as well as a range of merchandise.

4. Ayun River Rafting

Ayung River rafting in Bali offers an exciting day out for the entire family. Ayung River is  Bali’s longest and largest river, its rafting offers a thrilling pastime that also offers sightseeing opportunities of Central Bali’s upland, where you can cool off under a waterfall or jump into crystal-clear freshwater pools, you may catch sight of exotic birds and wildlife. The white water rafting adventure lets you enjoy Bali’s real natural beauty whilst sharing the fun and thrills with your family. It comprises class I and II rapids, with water levels fluctuating at different times throughout the year, but it is suitable for all experience levels. The journey is a mix of paddling action and steady cruising – just after you wind through among Central Bali’s most verdant landscapes and relax to enjoy the view, another of the random rapids in the route thrusts you and your team into some more fun and action. As a pack of four on a rubber raft led by one tour guide, you paddle through foam and dodge boulders and various obstacles in between calmer checkpoints. At other times, it can be a total contrast, steadily cruising downstream throughout the whole tour that requires no paddling at all. The route takes you through the valley that is lined with many farming villages and some of Bali’s most beautiful boutique resorts, such as the Royal Pita Maha. Several white water rafting operators in cooperation with the local villagers have even added gorgeous features to the sightseeing route, only visible to rafters, such as an episode from the Ramayana epic carved into a rock face.

5. Kemenuh Butterfly Park

And finally, a fairly new attraction, that opened in 2016 Kemenuh Butterfly Park is Bali’s latest attraction that lets you freely roam through flowering garden enclosures to admire nature’s artistry, taking a stroll along paved pathways, meandering through expansive flowering garden enclosures that are covered by netted canopies. Inside, over 500 butterfly specimens flutter with ease, siphoning nectar from flower to flower.The backdrop to this Butterfly park is a spectacular rice field and wonderful tropical environment. The park is designed in such a way based on the insects needs. Tropical, beautiful blossoms provide the food for the adult butterflies. A splashing waterfall and fish filled pond enrich the beauty of the park.
The park collects different coloured varieties of butterflies. You can see and observe them feeding and flying all around. Occasionally you may see butterflies resting on the leaves of the plants, which gives a perfect photo opportunity.
On the way out, you can visit a pupa/chrysalis room. You can see hundred of pupa/chrysalis hanging inside the room. If you are really lucky you can see and observe how the adult butterflies emerge from the pupa/chrysalis. Additionally, releasing the adult butterflies from inside the room to the park is an absolutely unforgettable nature experience for anyone to witness.
