It doesn’t matter what time of year it is, people still need to get away now and then. Even if you can’t afford to take a week off from work, you can still enjoy taking a long weekend to get away from it all. Of course, when you are packing for a short winter break, you want to be able to pack as quickly as possible so that you can get away quickly. After all, you don’t have much time to enjoy your few days away, and you want to maximize every minute of it.
At this time of year, there are some great deals available on ski holidays, so its always worth keeping an eye on special offers and holidays at short notice, and if you follow these packing tips you will be all prepared at a moment’s notice!
It is wise to always have a weekend bag ready with any toiletries that you will need. In this bag, you should have a body wash or soap, shampoo and conditioner or a two in one, deodorant, shaving supplies, and lotion, preferably with a built in sunscreen. Women may also need a make-up bag with smaller versions of their favourite colours. Having these things ready makes it easy to leave at a moment’s notice.
When you are packing clothing, you need to think in terms of layers. Layering will help you to be able to move indoors and out without feeling like you have to change your entire outfit. Thermal underwear is a great start to any winter outfit, especially if you’re going to be outdoors. Add jeans or pants on top, and a turtleneck sweater. You can add another, looser sweater on top of a turtleneck for a very stylish and warm layer. If it’s really cold, you will probably need to add a jacket as well. For just a long weekend, you will probably find that you don’t need any more than two or three outfits in addition to what you leave the house in.
When you are trying to stay warm, don’t forget about the extremities. Make sure that you have a good pair of gloves. Keep in mind that while knitted gloves may be very stylish and cute, they stick to snow. If you are going to be in the snow, you will probably want to have a good pair of ski gloves. When it comes to socks, wool socks will keep your feet nice and warm, but if you are sensitive to wool, heavy cotton socks can be a good alternative, or even layering a couple of pairs of socks on your feet. Make sure that whatever shoes you choose to wear will have good traction as well as keep your feet warm. You don’t want to be slipping in the ice and snow. Last but not least, don’t forget to pack a nice warm scarf for yourself. Even with a turtleneck on, you may still find that you need a scarf, but other than that, you should be fine.
