As I am sure you all know by ow, all of our children love reading, and Eowyn is no exception, I picked up her schoolbag last week and could barely lift it, on closer inspection she had five rather large books in her bag, all with bookmarks at different points, I asked which book she was reading and she replied “All of them, of course!”
When we were asked if she would like to review Goth Girl and the Ghost of A Mouse, she said yes!
The blurb:
Chris Riddell’s Goth Girl is the beautifully illustrated winner of the Costa Children’s Book Award.
Ada Goth is the only child of Lord Goth. The two live together in the enormous Ghastly-Gorm Hall. Lord Goth believes that children should be heard and not seen, so Ada has to wear large clumpy boots so that he can always hear her coming. This makes it hard for her to make friends and, if she’s honest, she’s rather lonely. Then one day William and Emily Cabbage come to stay at the house, and together with a ghostly mouse called Ishmael they and Ada begin to unravel a dastardly plot that Maltravers, the mysterious indoor gamekeeper, is hatching. Ada and her friends must work together to foil Maltravers before it’s too late!
Eowyns thoughts:
It must have been good as I didn’t hear a peep out of her for hours! She said it was very good, and she has told all of her friends about it, they have decided to have their own little Goth Girl Book Club, which I hope means they pass the books between each other to read at home, not have them all descend on my house for a mass sleepover!
