All of our children are HUGE Book worms, they all have their own types of books that they enjoy, although I have noticed that the girl’s tastes are quite similar, with Neva now reading Xene’s books and Eowyn has moved on to the ones Neva was reading, likewise with Kaide and Lochlan.
So when we were asked if they would like to review Animlacolm by David Baddiel I was unsure which of the children would like it the most. It has a recommended reading age of 8-11, so I was thinking either Eowyn aged 8 or Kaide aged 11, but, actually they both love it! Heres a little clip to tell you all about it.
The Blurb:
Malcolm doesn’t like animals, which is a problem because his family love them. Their house is full of pets. What the house is NOT full of is stuff Malcolm likes. Such as the laptop he wanted for his birthday.
The only bright spot on the horizon is the year six school trip, to…Oh no, A Farm.
Over the next few days, Malcolm changes. he learns what it is’s really like to be an animal, in fact…
It does make him think differently. And speak differently. And eat differently. And, um, smell differently.
But will he end up the same as before ?
Because sometimes the hardest thing to become is YOURSELF.
Kaide and Eowyns Thoughts:
They both loved it, you can see from their faces, they found it very funny, and you could him them both giggling together and pointing out funny parts, it is also great that they are both getting along and Kaide has helped Eowyn with a couple of trickier words.
So, if you have a child aged 8-11 who likes a good laugh and doesn’t realise they are actually learning whilst reading, then this is the perfect book for you and your children.
