Cornwall is one of the most beautiful parts of the United Kingdom. Located in the southwest corner of the UK, this rocky landscaped peninsula is exquisitely beautiful and full of historical charm. If you have an interest in seeing a part of the UK that is full of Celtic artefacts and culture, Cornwall is the place for you. There are many towns to visit within Cornwall so you are sure to be busy with beautiful scenery, historical museums, and great celtic heritage. It is also home to the mystical character, King Arthur! - Ways to get to Cornwall. No matter what part of Cornwall you are trying to visit, there is a way to get there. Most people tend to take the train to Cornwall via London and Paddington Station. There are many trains that travel to that region throughout the day and they can take you several hours to complete your journey. The scenery along the train is gorgeous however if that is not your cup of tea, you can drive a car, or travel by coach. If you are flying in from overseas or another country, you can fly in to Newquay Airport.
- Great places to visit. There are many places to visit when you go to Cornwall. Penzance can offer a quaint fishing town with wonderful people, historic places to see such as the center of town built in the 1840s, and delicious food. Other places to visit in Cornwall including St. Ives which is also home to the famous Tate Gallery. Cornwall isn’t just for Summer either, there are lots of things to do in Cornwall on a rainy day.
- Delicious food. You will not leave Cornwall hungry. There are so many delicious places to eat and drink that you will have a hard time making a decision. While you are visiting, be sure to try out a local bakery and order a Cornish pasty. This pastry is a savory delight, filled with your choice of meat, onions, potatoes, and sometimes turnips. Cornish ice cream, cornish cream tea, and cornish gilliflower are also lovely things to try out while in town. If you get thirsty, there are plenty of pubs that will welcome you with open arms, give you a stool to sit up, and a pint to quench your thirst. - Accommodations. It is best to stay in a bed and breakfast while visiting Cornwall but there are also chain hotels around if that is more your style. Most bed and breakfasts have sweet owners who make a delightful Cornish breakfast with fare from the area. If you are not interested in luxury hotel chains or comfortable bed and breakfasts, there are hostels that you can sleep in as well.
- Festivals. Cornwall is a great place to visit if you have an interest in festivals. Cornwall hosts a plethora of festivals every year with some of the most popular being Aberfest which features everything you can ever imagine that is Celtic and Cornish. Other great festivals include but are not limited to Allantide, Furry Dance, or The Flora, and Mummer’s Day.
